The Design Process – Making Creator Cards Stand Out

Balancing Art, Functionality, and Identity

When I started designing Creator Cards, I wanted them to feel unique and collectible—but I also had to balance art, functionality, and creator identity.

The backgrounds of the cards are slightly blurred scenic images (forests, castles, abstract environments) to make the artwork pop. This, combined with a template where each creator chooses their own accent colour and card text, makes every card feel personal while keeping the collection cohesive.

One thing I quickly realized was that one artist wasn’t enough. With 160+ unique character designs to create, I had to bring in more help. We started with one artist, then added another, and eventually expanded to four artists to make sure everything got done in time.

To help fans quickly identify creators, I added platform badges—so whether someone is big on Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram, it’s easy to see where to follow them.

The QR code was another critical part of the design. It had to be easy to scan but not distracting, so I made sure it blended into the layout without taking focus away from the artwork.

Every decision in the design process came down to one goal: make Creator Cards feel like a legit collectible while still being a practical tool for discovery.
